Gift Options: tagged gift variants

Choose whether a gift variant hidden by a product tag stays greyed out or disappears from the gift block, and how that changes the gift block.

When a product carries a gift variant's visibility tag, that gift variant is not offered on that product. This setting decides how the gift block treats a tagged gift variant: keep it in view but greyed out, or remove it from the gift block entirely.

Where to find it

  1. In Wrapped, open your gift option settings (Gifting for Products or Gifting for Orders).

  2. In the connected gift product section, press Manage visibility.

  3. Turn Do not show tagged gift variants to customers on or off. The change saves right away.

💡 Gift variant visibility tags need a gift product with two or more variants. To hide a single-variant gift product on a product, use the Gift Block visibility tag instead.

Switch off (default)

A tagged gift variant stays in view but is greyed out and cannot be chosen. Sold out gift variants show the same way.

The gift block shows a row for each of the gift product's options, such as Shape, Size and Colour. Each row is a set of colour swatches, buttons, or a menu, the same way Shopify shows a product's options.

Switch on

A tagged gift variant is removed from the gift block. Because a gift variant can disappear on any product, the gift block lists the remaining gift variants by their full name in a single menu, such as "Heart / L / Magenta", instead of a row for each option.

When only one gift variant remains on a product, its name is shown as text and the shopper has nothing to choose.

💡 The switch changes the gift block on every product, not only tagged ones. Gift variants show as one menu of names instead of a row for each option. Turn it off to bring the rows back.

Checkout gift blocks

Checkout gift blocks follow the same switch: a tagged gift variant is removed when the switch is on, and greyed out when it is off.
