The Developer and Partner plan lets you use any Wrapped plan for testing purposes, without being billed, on a store that Shopify created for testing.
A store qualifies based on how Shopify created it, not on its name or how you use it. Many businesses run a staging or test store on a paid Shopify plan. Shopify treats that store as a regular store, so Wrapped is billed on it like on any other store.
Stores that qualify
Development stores created in the Shopify Partner Dashboard (partners.shopify.com)
Shopify Plus Partner Sandbox stores created in the Shopify Partner Dashboard
On these stores, Shopify shows the Wrapped plan as a test charge and you aren’t billed.
Before you choose a plan, the Wrapped Plans page on a qualifying store shows a banner: “This store is eligible for the partner program.” If you don’t see that banner, the store doesn’t qualify, and the plan you choose is billed.
Stores that don’t qualify
Staging, test, or development stores on a paid Shopify plan (Basic, Grow, Advanced, or Shopify Plus)
Shopify Plus expansion stores
If you pay Shopify for the store’s plan, it doesn’t qualify. Each of these stores needs its own Wrapped plan, and charges on them aren’t refunded.
To test Wrapped without being billed, create a development store in the Shopify Partner Dashboard. To stop charges on a store, cancel the plan on the Wrapped Billing page, or uninstall Wrapped from that store.
This plan is a courtesy for genuine development and testing. Abuse of it will result in removal for both the developer and connected stores.
