Choose which products show gift blocks

Decide which products show gift options with rules for product tags, products and collections

You can decide which products show gift options. Every product shows them until you add a rule in the Gift block visibility card, and the rules apply wherever the gift block appears: the product page, the cart page, the cart drawer and checkout.

Where to find it

  1. In Wrapped, open Gifting for Products or Gifting for Orders.

  2. Scroll to the Gift block visibility card at the bottom of the page.

  3. Add a condition, products or collections to Include or Exclude.

  4. Press Save.

The Gift block visibility card with no rules, the summary line Available on all products outlined

With no rules, the card reads Available on all products

Include: show gift options only on some products

Anything you add to Include limits gift options to the products that match. Press Add products to pick single products, Add collections to pick whole collections, or Add condition for a product tag. Products in any of the picked collections match, and so does any product you picked or tagged.

The Include group outlined, with the Beer and Wine collections picked and the card reading Available on 6 products

Two collections in Include: gift options show on their 6 products only

Exclude: hide gift options on some products

Add a condition, products or collections to Exclude to start a second group. Products that match it never show gift options, even when they also match Include. A tag is the usual choice here: tag the products in your Shopify admin, add the tag as a condition, and the rule follows the tag from then on. Press the X beside Exclude to remove the whole group.

Products with this tag are left out

Conditions and how they combine

A condition is a product tag. Type the tag exactly as it appears on your products. With 2 or more conditions in a group, Match decides how they combine: all means a product needs every tag, any means one tag is enough.

The Match all conditions row outlined above two product tag conditions, with the card reading Not available on any products

Match all: no product carries both tags, so nothing shows gift options yet

Picked products and collections sit beside the conditions in the same group. A product that matches the conditions, or is picked, or is in a picked collection, matches the group.

💡 A collection keeps a rule current as you add products. A product tag works well with Shopify Flow, which can tag new products for you, and with Shopify Bulk Action for tagging many products at once.

Check the result before you save

The line under the rules counts the products that show gift options with the rules as they stand, and shows a few of them. It reads Available on all products, Available on 6 products, or Not available on any products when no product matches. Hover a thumbnail for the product name. Nothing changes for your customers until you press Save.

Also hidden for

Two switches below the rules hide gift options for a kind of customer, whatever the product:

The Also hidden for switches outlined, B2B customers and Unavailable markets both turned on

Both switches on: B2B buyers and customers outside the gift product's markets never see gift options

Recap

  • Every product shows gift options until you add a rule.

  • Include limits gift options to matching products. Exclude takes them away from matching products, and wins when a product matches both.

  • A group can hold product tag conditions, picked products and picked collections. Match all or any combines the conditions.

  • The count under the rules shows the result before you press Save.

Important notes

  • Gifting for Products and Gifting for Orders each have their own rules.

  • To limit one gift variant to certain products, such as a small bag for small items, use Gift variant visibility in the gift product card instead.
