Add a tag to the gift order

Tag every order that contains a gift, so you can find, filter and automate gift orders in your Shopify admin.

You can tag every order that contains a gift. Use the tag to find gift orders on your Orders page, save them as a view, and start Shopify Flow workflows.

Turn on order tagging

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Wrapped, and then open Gifting for Products or Gifting for Orders.

  2. In the Automations section, turn on Add a tag to the gift order. The tag is set to 🎁 Wrapped.

  3. Press Save.

Use a different tag

  1. On the Add a tag to the gift order row, press the gear icon.

  2. In the Order tag field, enter your tag. The tag can be up to 40 characters.

  3. Press Save.

The switch and the field work together. When you enter a tag, the switch turns on. When you leave the field blank, the switch turns off and no tag is added.

Gifting for Products and Gifting for Orders each have their own tag, so you can use the same tag for both or a different tag for each.

When the tag is added

The tag is added as soon as possible after the customer places the order, usually within 1–2 minutes. If a fulfillment service or warehouse system reads your orders, allow 1–2 minutes after the order is placed so the tag is on the order first. Orders that don't contain a gift aren't tagged.

Find tagged orders

The tag displays in the Tags section of the order in your Shopify admin.

To view your gift orders in one list, go to Orders and filter by the tag. You can save the filtered list as a view to return to it later.

💡 The tag is added with Shopify's tag merge, so the tags that are already on the order aren't overwritten.

Recap

  • Turn on Add a tag to the gift order in the Automations section, and then press Save.

  • Press the gear icon on the row to use a different tag.

  • The tag is added to each new gift order, usually within 1–2 minutes.

  • Filter your Orders page by the tag to view your gift orders.

Considerations

  • Only orders that are placed after you save the setting are tagged. Existing orders aren't updated.

  • Gifting for Products and Gifting for Orders each have their own switch and tag.
